Thank you for stopping by to visit.  We hope that you will enjoy browsing through our site and getting to know us.  We offer full service boarding for your horse, as well as riding lessons for you.  We promote a casual, relaxed atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable and enjoy the camaraderie of the boarders and students.

Our facility is located on a historic 2000 acre preserve in southern Maryland.  In addition to the riding ring and pastures, there are miles and miles of beautiful trails throughout the property.  Adjoining the scenic Potomac River, the trails offer both horses and riders an opportunity to enjoy a refreshing summertime splash!  Autumn brings forth a bountiful display of color, to be enjoyed on a fall ride through the leaves.  In addition to our stable amenities, you can enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is common on the property.  Each year we know that spring has arrived when we see the barn swallows beginning to make their nests.  They add cheery song to the barn all summer.  There is a wonderful variety of other birds, including the grand bald eagle.  There are many others to see; such as deer, groundhogs, beavers, and foxes just to mention a few.

We are proud to be able to offer both full board and field board.  Our horses are happy and healthy, and are placed in a herd based on their individual position in the social order.  Safety is always our top priority.

In addition to providing a quality home for your horse, we also offer riding lessons to both children and adults.  As with caring for the horses, safety is our top priority with students.  Children must be at least six years old in order to participate in lessons.  We promote the use of recommended safety equipment such as helmets and proper footwear.  Our lessons are provided in a fun, low-stress environment that makes learning a pleasure.

Effective with the 2015 season, Popes Creek Stable will only be offering lessons to students who own their own horse.

We hope that you have enjoyed this overview of our stable.  There is much more for you to see on our site, such as the history of the preserve, meet the stable manager/instructor, photos, and more!  Sit back, relax, and keep reading.  Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, or would like to schedule an appointment to come visit us.
