Effective with the 2015 season, Popes Creek Stable will only be offering lessons to students who own their own horse.

Popes Creek Stable offers riding lessons to both adults and children. Gwen is the instructor for all lessons, and enjoys working with students of all ages and riding abilities. She has wonderful patience with the children, and a great sense of humor for the adults.

Lessons are tailored specifically for each individual's needs and goals. So, whether your goals include basic trail riding, local showing, or A-rated competition; your lessons will be customized for you.  Many beginner students have started at Popes Creek Stable, and gone on to enjoy very successful show careers.  Some students choose to learn simply what they need to become a happy, secure recreational rider; and others have learned the basic skills necessary to enjoy occasional equestrian activities.

When it comes to working with horses, safety is always the top priority at Popes Creek Stable. We promote safety, good sportsmanship, and teamwork.  As students work with their horse, they form a bond with each other that evolves into a partnership of learning and trust.

We highly recommend the use of approved safety equipment such as helmets and proper footwear.  ASTM/SEI certified and approved riding helmets are mandatory for riders under the age of 18, and encouraged for all others.  Children must be at least six years old to begin lessons.
